Unverified: A video shows National Guard troops stationed at a DC ballot drop box on October 8, 2026.

“A video shows National Guard troops stationed at a DC ballot drop box on October 8, 2026.”

Status: The place is real. The video shows uniformed soldiers beside the DC Board of Elections drop box at the Foggy Bottom/GWU Metro, 23rd and I Streets NW. The date is not confirmed. October 8 is a caption the poster added, not data from the video, and we have not verified when it was filmed. DC drop boxes did not open for November ballots until October 9. Guard personnel were documented gathering at a DC drop box during the June primary, including a report of Guard outside a Foggy Bottom drop box, so this may be older footage. The DC National Guard is still deployed in the city and answers to the president. Guard and police are supposed to stay at least 50 feet from voting sites and drop boxes.
