Seizure of ballots, machines or election materials

Law enforcement takes ballots, voting machines, or election records, on or around Election Day or afterward, often on a pretext. Election defense groups rank it among the most dangerous scenarios, since the disruption itself can be used to claim an election was compromised.

What has happened

  • The FBI took more than three dozen hard drives and servers from the Arizona Senate's 2021 audit of Maricopa County's 2020 vote, under a federal grand jury subpoena. The original ballots were destroyed years ago under state law. Arizona joins the map: 3 states.
