Misleading: Senate candidates Susan Collins and Ashley Hinson voted to hide the Epstein files.

“Senate candidates Susan Collins and Ashley Hinson voted to hide the Epstein files.”

The facts: The record shows both supported releasing the files in the end. Ads from a Democratic super PAC say Collins voted to cover up the Epstein files, but she opposed adding the measure to an unrelated defense bill and then backed the standalone Epstein Files Transparency Act, which passed unanimously. PolitiFact rated the same group's claim about Rep. Ashley Hinson Mostly False. Before sharing an attack ad, check how the candidate actually voted.
