Misleading
“Democratic candidates voted to raise taxes on your tips, overtime, and Social Security.”
The facts: Voting against the 2025 tax and spending law is not the same as opposing its tax cuts on tips, overtime, and Social Security. Ads in Texas, North Carolina, New Hampshire, and Pennsylvania claim Democratic candidates back higher taxes on all three, but several of those candidates say they support the cuts, and the tips cut passed the Senate 100 to 0 before it was folded into the larger bill. The three cuts are deductions that expire after 2028. Check a candidate's votes and stated positions, not just the ad.
