“The Defense Secretary ordered troops to vote Republican.”
The facts: The Sept. 25 video urges service members and families to register and vote; it does not tell anyone who to vote for. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth pointed troops to the Federal Voting Assistance Program and absentee ballots, after active-duty registration fell to 67 percent in 2024. No one in the chain of command can direct or see your vote. Register and request your absentee ballot at FVAP.gov.
