The U.S. Postal Service says it has not closed any mail processing facility in the Phoenix area and has more than enough capacity for Maricopa County election mail.
The rumor: False “USPS closed the central Phoenix mail plant, so Maricopa County ballots are routed through San Diego and will arrive late.”
The facts: The claim that a closed Phoenix plant will send ballots through San Diego was made at a Sept. 30 county board meeting and has not been corrected; the board chair says the central Phoenix facility is open. Mail ballots went out Oct. 7 for the Nov. 3 election. To be safe, mail your ballot early or return it at a county drop box or voting location.
