Misleading: Trump said Iran taking out Los Angeles or San Diego would be a small price to pay.

Misleading

“Trump said Iran taking out Los Angeles or San Diego would be a small price to pay.”

The facts: The clip is real. The framing is not. At his Oct 5 rally Trump was talking about the cost of the war and gas prices. He opened with, "With the war, it's just artificial. It's a little bit high. It's a small price to pay for keeping the world safe." Then came, "They could take out a city. Let 'em take out Los Angeles, let 'em take out San Diego," and he went right back to "a very small price to pay" and "your gas and your gasoline." The "small price" is the economic pain now, set against the worst case. Clips cut to the four-word line strip that out. "Liberal cities" is not his phrase. The White House says he meant the U.S. is stopping Iran from ever having that capability. Naming two cities full of troops and military families was still reckless.
